“Una vision general de la peosia de la temprana edad moderna espanola: del Renacimiento al Barroco”

This intellectual event, in conjunction with SPAN 538, intends to provide Spanish MA-level students with a basic and broad understanding of Spanish Renaissance and Baroque poetry (16^th & 17^th centuries) as a way to complement MA exam preparation. Envisioned as a class/workshop more than a scholarly talk, Dr. Gutiérrez will explain how the two periods are similar and different—as well as talk about salient themes, authors, and terms using the Socratic method (questions + critical thinking)—and will engage students through group work poetry analysis. The event will be in Spanish.
