Beachcomber News: The Beachcomber seeks applicants for journalism internships. Typical intern responsibilities include contributing at least one feature story of at least 600 words per issue of the bi-weekly newspaper; creating a feature story based on a half-hour recording of a luncheon speaker at Long Beach Rotary; taking photographs to accompany news stories; and proofreading and editing content. The Contour of Luxury: The Contour of Luxury seeks candidates for a public relations internship. The Contour of Luxury is a start-up digital publishing, multimedia and marketing company that publishes the digital luxury lifestyle magazine. As an intern, you will interact directly with the editor-in-chief and key internal and external partners to assist with company PR strategies, media relations, event planning, and research. You will work primarily remotely to perform a range of PR and communication duties; however, you may work onsite on event/project sites as needed. Apply through Indeed.

Flaunt magazine: Flaunt magazine is accepting applications for editorial, fashion and social media internships. Distributed in more than 32 countries, Flaunt explores provocative issues and ideas pertaining to art, fashion, film, music, media and literature.  Inland Empire Utilities Agency: Are you interested in performing impactful community outreach, educating students and the public on the environment and water resources, preparing special events, and designing and developing outreach collateral for the region?  The Inland Empire Utilities Agency is seeking three interns for fall. Two of the interns will focus on planning, implementing, and facilitating the agency’s Water Discovery Field Trip Program. This program provides an opportunity for members of the community to learn more about the environment and the importance of our natural resources. Interns will lead students through the Chino Creek Wetlands and Educational Park while facilitating various educational activities. Additionally, the agency is seeking a third intern who will focus on designing and developing graphics, videos, and other outreach materials. Interns earn between $16 and $21 per hour. International Rescue Committee: IRC San Diego is offering remote internships. Join IRC’s San Diego Development team this fall as the Communications and Development Intern. Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading organization providing relief, protection, and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression throughout the U.S. As an intern, you will have a vital impact supporting IRC’s annual fundraising event, Taste the IRC, developing comprehensive outreach plans, overseeing social media accounts, coordinating client success stories and website content, and supporting the Development and Community Relations Coordinator in procurement of in-kind donations. CNN: The CNN Newsgathering Intern will be located in the LA area. The selected intern will be expected to join the CNN team in the office on a regular cadence, based on the intern manager’s in-office schedule. The CNN Los Angeles bureau news internship offers a view into front line reporting and news gathering. The intern will get a view on the decision making process around what and how CNN covers from the robust West and Midwest regions, and is supported to produce content for CNN’s linear and digital platforms. Girls’ Life: This an American teen magazine offers a paid internship. The editorial intern’s responsibilities would include participating in all aspects of digital content creation for girlslife.com, brainstorming and writing content for the print magazine, and researching Gen Z trends on TikTok and other social platforms. Los Angeles magazine: Los Angeles magazine is looking for detail-oriented, thorough, resourceful, intuitive, and determined self-starter students with excellent communication skills to intern in its editorial department. Responsibilities include fact-checking, conducting research, and submitting story ideas with the possibility of writing them. Fact-checking is not always as easy as it sounds. You may need to contact the celebrity of the moment or outwit a word-savvy politician. In researching subjects, you’d work directly with writers and editors in putting stories together (which may include doing some reporting). You would also learn to use online services, pull court documents or locate hard-to-find sources… within minutes. In addition, you’ll see how a magazine is put together from story conception to newsstand. Orange County Social Services Agency: SSA’s Strategic Communications, Legislation, and Policy Team seeks candidates for a communications internship. Under direct supervision of the public information officer, interns will assist with writing, proofreading and editing of content, graphic design and print production materials such as brochures and newsletters. In addition, they will assist with managing the agency’s website, visual communications, and social media sites. Successful applicants will have experience with PC-based graphic design and video editing software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, iMovie, and Adobe Premier. Telemundo 20: NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego internships provide students with real world experience and exposure to working in the television news industry. As a news intern, you will gain experience in script writing and translating for broadcast, creating graphics for broadcast, editing videos, contributing to Telemundo 20 digital content and social media accounts, and more. For this paid internship, you must be bilingual (English/Spanish with excellent grammar and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. The Young Turks: TYT Network’s Unpaid Internship Program provides a learning opportunity for individuals interested in careers in digital media, social media, and politics. Most internships are at least hours a week and last approximately 12 weeks. This Program offers invaluable hands-on training and experience through participation in projects and assignments that allow for the practical application of academic knowledge and the development of business skills necessary for a career in digital media. LAist:  Southern California Public Radio provides news and information on air at LAist 89.3, online at LAist.com and through LAist Live Programming & Events. LAist is hiring for a 20-hour per week 15-week stint, with an anticipated September 2024 start date. The pay rate for this opportunity will be $18.66 per hour. Interns working with newscasts or shows would assist with reporting, research, and production. Applicants should have experience in radio production and include samples of their on-air work. This position is funded in part by a grant from the Asian American Journalists Association, Los Angeles chapter. Fox News Media: Fox News Media operates the Fox News Channel (FNC), FOX Business Network (FBN), Fox News Digital, Fox News Audio, Fox News Books, the direct-to-consumer digital streaming services Fox Nation and Fox News International and the newly announced platform Fox Weather. The Fox Internship Program offers has two remote internships available. As an intern, you would have the opportunity to participate in real-world projects at one of the biggest sports, media, and entertainment companies in the world. Interns work 16 – 24 hours per week. Claims Journal: Claims Journal and its other business news media outlets are seeking fall interns interested in journalism (and a handful of good bylines) to support their newsgathering while learning about business reporting from experienced editors of three different news websites. You will write assigned briefs, as well as interview subject-matter experts, attorneys, and business executives for deadline stories. You’ll also work on longer enterprise articles that follow trends and developments. Work hours are pretty much on your own schedule. Students who have some familiarity with AP style and have completed at least one basic news writing course (such as JOURN 120) are strongly preferred. Politico: Politico’s California team is seeking an editorial intern for fall 2024. The intern will work from the Sacramento office and will play a critical role in coverage of politics and policy in the nation’s largest state. The intern will  pitch, report and write stories of consequence, cover spot news in policy and politics in and around the state capitol, and work with Politico’s California Playbook team to write and produce a daily newsletter on politics in the Golden State. Sports Media: Sports Media Inc., a sports strategy consulting agency, offers a social media internship that is remote. The social media intern will help promote Sports Media’s brands on social media platforms. Responsibilities would include planning and adhering to content calendars; creating, editing and posting content; and tracking analytics. The successful candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, is familiar with Zoom for weekly meetings and has a passion for the advertising services and hospitality industry. Brilliant PR & Marketing: Brilliant seeks a public relations intern who will work 15 hours a week remotely for  Summer/Fall semester (June-December). This isn’t an internship to organize files, it’s the one where you are truly integrated into a team to understand how it operates and the fundamentals of a strong career in PR. With that, it is critical that interns can meet deadlines, respond to messages in a timely manner, and be proactive in communicating with their team. The successful candidate has a GP of 3.0 or above and excellent writing skills. Fox Sports Radio: iHeartMedia seeks candidates for a paid internship for its sports division. Fox Sports is looking for someone with an interest in sports and an understanding of audio editing as well as live production. Your day-to-day will be working in the newsroom and production control room. The successful candidate can work up to 20 hours a week in the Sherman Oaks office. NBC 4 LA: The NBCUniversal Internship Program allows students to unlock their potential by contributing to big projects in meaningful ways that matter. Through this paid internship, you’ll get immersed in exciting work and feel the real support and guidance for two semesters. The successful candidate has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, is available to work 16-24 hours per week, can work in Universal City. Television Academy Foundation: The Foundation will offer paid, part-time internships to full-time students enrolled in university in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Interns must commit to working 13 consecutive weeks. Internships are available in editing, interactive media, and television production management. Past interns have been placed at companies such as Getty Images, Geiger Post, Ping Pong Productions, Shondaland and elsewhere.
