BQE Orientation Meeting SP22
March 17, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
For students taking the BQE this SP22, there is an orientation meeting scheduled for:
-
BQE Orientation Meeting: Thursday, March 17th 2022, 5:00–6:00pm via Zoom
-
UPDATE: Example BQE questions from the FA21 Analytic Portion and the FA21 Text Portion of the exam.
-
Note that the two texts for this spring semester will be:
-
-
Text 1: William Frankena (1939), The naturalistic fallacy. Mind, 48: 464–477.
-
Text 2: Gertrude Anscombe (1975), The first person. In Samuel Guttenplan (ed.), Mind and Language (45–65). Oxford University Press.
-
Students are responsible for retrieving the correct version of the texts. For certain pedagogical reasons, the Graduate Committee deliberately does not post them anywhere. Both articles/chapters will be easily available, e.g., via the CSULB library, BeachReach, and so forth. If assistance is needed, please speak with Prof. Rosenkrantz. Tentatively, the text and analytic portions of the SP22 exam are scheduled for:
-
BQE Text Exam: Saturday, April 23rd 2022, 1:00–4:00pm [locale tbd]
-
BQE Analytic Exam: Sunday, April 24th 2022, 1:00–4:00pm [locale tbd]
If you have not passed the BQE, you should definitely take it; nothing is gained by delaying. Get the texts now and read them early in the semester. If you are planning on taking the BQE this semester but have a schedule conflict with either of these two times, please let Prof. Rosenkrantz know at your earliest convenience. There will be a call for RSVPs in April.
