2014 Hamburg Model UN Conference

CSULB’s Model UN delegation joined over 500 delegates from around the world at the Hamburg Model UN Conference, held at the University of Hamburg, in Hamburg Germany. CSULB students Jordan Haynes and Elizabeth Rosenberg were awarded “Best Delegate” and “Distinguished Delegate” respectively at the 2014 Hamburg Model UN Conference.  Jordan portrayed the role as Head of the Chinese Government in a highly charged crisis simulation dealing the collapse of the Russian government.  Elizabeth, representing Argentina in the UN Security Council crisis, also dealt with the Russian government’s collapse and attempt to leverage the UN to alleviate its plight.  Nathan Trodahl and Ricardo Viayra also were highly effective members of their committees representing Papua New Guinea in the Non-Aligned Movement, while Ricardo represented Spain in NATO.

Congratulations,  POSC Professor Ron Schmidt!

The Frank Johnson Goodnow Award was created by the APSA Council in 1996 to honor service to the community of teachers, researchers, and public servants who work in the many fields of politics. Frank J. Goodnow, the first president of the American Political Science Association, a pioneer in the development of judicial politics, and former president of Johns Hopkins University is an exemplar of the public service and volunteerism that this award represents.

Each year the Association solicits nominations from members of the Council, former winners, and APSA members. Nominations are then considered by the Goodnow Committee which will then select a winner. Award winners are recognized at the annual Awards Ceremony and Luncheon, held each year as part of the APSA Annual Meeting.

Congratulations, Ron Schmidt!
